Melanie Tong
Landscape Artist

Melanie is both an artist and an art teacher living & working in Margate.
She uses her own photographs of the East Kent Coastline as a starting point for her paintings.
Melanie works mostly with acrylics but has recently been adding ink & collage elements.
Her paintings show an abstracted view from the photographs occasionally including regognisable landmarks or forms of particular areas, but focusing on the forms that the tides and coastal features create.

 John Laven

Landscape Painter

As a landscape painter, John sees his work in the tradition of European painting stretching back to the late 18th century romantics.

His focus is the force of nature imbued with anthropomorphic qualities of struggle and tension that exist at the frontiers and margins of a place. This is a place that exists both in real lived experience and in the imagination.
